Zoom Tested as EPO Opposition Platform

Zoom is being tested as a second platform for oral proceedings in opposition involving multiple opponents and/or requiring simultaneous interpretation.
From 14 September 2020, as a development of the pilot project for oral proceedings in opposition by videoconference (VICO), the European Patent Office will test the Zoom platform for the first time for oral proceedings involving multiple opponents and/or requiring simultaneous interpretation.
Skype for Business will remain the default platform for more straightforward opposition cases.
To assist more patentees, opponents and patent professionals (not in the current pilot program) to take advantage of the new opportunity in the future, new training materials have been published and short videos focused on the particular features of Zoom, and these can be found here.
