Swindell & Pearson Appointed to Framework Agreement for North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium
November 07, 2018
Swindell & Pearson is delighted to announce that we’ve been appointed to the North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium framework agreement for providing intellectual property (IP) services to its members and members of the other UK higher education purchasing consortia.
The North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium, or NEUPC as it’s more commonly known, is one of six UK higher education purchasing consortia. The NEUPC is made up over 20 members across the country which includes some of the UK’s leading universities.
We will be working with university members, helping to protect inventions in the fields of engineering and physical services as well as providing general IP advice and guidance.
Associate Tim Gilbert commented: “It’s been a successful year for our university team as we were also appointed to a panel at the start of the year to provide IP services to the University of Wolverhampton’s Smart Concept Fund”.
“Several of our attorneys have recently invested into developing their knowledge in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence. We’re now looking forward to helping universities obtain patent protection for inventions within these fields”.
Rachel Lunn, Professional Services Category Manager at NEUPC said: “The National Intellectual Property Rights Services Framework Agreement is the first of its kind available to UK Universities. The framework will allow members to easily access suppliers including Swindell & Pearson, to help protect the ideas, products and innovations created in universities and educational establishments, enabling them to collaborate successfully with commercial partners”.
Our patent practice has been commended in the Legal 500, described as being “Ideal for any university wanting to capitalise on its in-house IP and knowhow in the field of medical engineering. The group is particularly active in the automotive, electronics and mechanics industries”.
