Brexit and European Union trade marks and community designs – Swindell & Pearson webinar
May 08, 2018
The most recent round of talks in the Brexit negotiations between the UK government and the EU led to a draft Withdrawal Agreement being published (a copy of which can be found here). This Agreement is intended to put into place a transition period between 29th March 2019, the date upon which the UK has announced it will leave the EU, and 31st December 2020 the date by which that departure will be complete.
Much but not all of the portion of the draft agreement that relates to intellectual property (Articles 50 to 57) is shown as being agreed at negotiator level. Patent and Trade Mark Attorney Antony Gallafent recently put together a paper designed to provide some clarity on the current state of negotiations in particular, with regards to European Union Trade Mark and Community Design matters. If you would like to receive a copy of the paper then please let us know and we will send it to you.
Antony also recently recorded a webinar in which he summarised the main points of the paper as well as the general Brexit discussions between the UK government and the EU. You can listen to Antony’s 30 minute webinar by clicking here.
