Jack Bourne

Patent Advisor

Qualifications

MSci (Hons) Physics

Jack is a member of the firm’s tech and engineering practice groups. He helps clients to obtain patent protection.

Prior to joining Swindell & Pearson, Jack graduated from the University of Nottingham with a first-class master’s degree in physics. He studied a broad range of topics, before specialising in low-dimensional semiconductor physics.

Jack’s MSci research project, “Photogating in Hybrid Graphene Field Effect Transistor Photodetectors”, combined theoretical and practical approaches to investigate charge transfer in hybrid semiconductor heterostructures. A previous research project involved computer simulation of high-redshift light from the first stars in the early universe. Jack’s varied academic background gives him the ability to understand a broad range of different technologies.

Outside of work, Jack enjoys staying active through tennis, swimming, and going for walks in the Peak District.
