Simon joined Swindell & Pearson in May 2011, and has since qualified as a European Patent Attorney. He has experience in drafting and prosecuting patents for a wide variety of technologies for individuals, small to medium sized enterprises, and multinational corporations. Simon also advises on the protection of industrial designs.

Simon is committed to understanding his client’s objectives and providing solutions to help meet those objectives.

Simon’s specialism is chemistry, and particularly the use of chemistry to improve everyday items, such as electronic devices.

Simon is an accomplished scientist, and prior to joining the profession worked for a number of years in the chemical industry, first as a polymer chemist, and then as a pharmaceutical research chemist specialising in the design and synthesis of new therapeutic compounds. Prior to that, Simon gained a PhD in chemistry and carried out research at the interface of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Bath, and later the University of Nottingham as a postdoctoral scientist.

Outside of work, Simon enjoys running, football and spending time with his young family.
